Melisa Jean Maples' Obituary
Melisa Jean Maples, 41, of Clearwater, Florida, passed away on March 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Smithville, Missouri, Melisa relocated to the Clearwater area in 2014 from Missouri and quickly made it her home.
Melisa worked as an Analytical Quality Assurance Specialist with ION Nutritional Lab, where her dedication, precision, and warm spirit made her a beloved colleague and friend.
Creative, curious, and endlessly imaginative, Melisa found joy in the world of arts and crafts. She adored needlepoint, cross-stitch, diamond painting, and had a special fondness for flower-themed LEGO sets. A lifelong miniaturist, she collected and created all things tiny, delighting in the beauty of small details and the stories they held. Her handmade creations and collections brought happiness to those lucky enough to receive or admire them.
Melisa was preceded in death by her grandparents Jim Maples and Gene and Billie Cernech. She is survived by her loving parents, Steve J. and Nancy J. Maples; her sisters, Susan M. Maples and Michelle (Andrew) Carpenter; her partner, Billy Ray; niece Hailey M. Tretter; nephew Graydon S. Tretter; and great-niece Xena M. Roberson, along with many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss her kindness, humor, and gentle heart.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Moffitt Cancer Center, an organization close to Melisa’s heart.
Melisa’s legacy of creativity, compassion, and love will live on in all who knew her.
