Melvin E Gibbons' Obituary
Melvin E. Gibbons, 78, of Largo, Florida, passed away peacefully February 21, 2016.
Born in Barnesville, he was the son of the late, Lindsey Earl Gibbons and Lillian Cole Gibbons.
Melvin was a member of the Massillon Moose for many years, as well as the Army/Navy, AmVets and Eagles. He originally worked at Ray C Call in Strasburg, and then became a long distance truck driver for People’s Cartage of Massillon. He purchased his own Peterbilt truck and was an avid CB operator using the handle “The Blue Goose”. He enjoyed hunting and golfing and after becoming a cancer survivor, he moved to Florida where he enjoyed spending time outdoors and with his family.
His wonderful smile, sense of humor and zest for life will be missed by all those who knew him.
He is survived by his brother, Marvin Gibbons; four children, Debra, Mel, Penny and Stacy; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A service celebrating Melvin’s life will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia on Saturday, March 5, at 2 p.m.
