Mildred A. Dickey's Obituary
Dickey, Mildred Amy, Millie (Hanson), 77, formerly of Reading, Massachusetts, part-time resident of Clearwater, Florida and Lily Bay, Maine, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2019 with her family by her side.
Millie grew up in Somerville, Massachusetts where she was a dedicated member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, a Masonic leadership program dedicated to community service. She graduated from Somerville High School in June of 1960.
When her family moved to Reading, Massachusetts she soon met her future and life-long husband, tree warden Bud Dickey, while he was climbing in a tree near her home. The minute she saw him, she knew he was the one. They married on May 28, 1966.
Millie will be remembered for her many talents. She was an avid baker, known for making sweets and treats to bring cheer to friends and neighbors. She was an ingenious seamstress, mending and sewing just about anything on demand. As a bargain hunter, she could spot a sale a mile away. She was also a very strong advocate and dedicated mother to her two surviving children, Douglas Dickey and Elaine Colella.
Millie was predeceased by her brother, Billy Hanson, father William Hanson, and mother Dorothy Hanson. She is also survived by her husband Irving Dickey, daughter-in-law Marizol Dickey, son-in-law Rick Colella, and her grandchildren Luke, Dehliza, and Luis.
