Mildred B. Hathaway's Obituary
Mildred (Midge) Bowmar Hathaway of Groton, MA and Belleair, FL passed away peacefully on April 29, 2018 of natural causes, with family by her side. She was born on April 9, 1926 to loving parents Ralph and Angie Bowmar. She was the middle child of four siblings, who have all pre-deceased her. Her father was a decorated World War I veteran and Attorney and one of her grandfathers was a Civil War Veteran.
Her life was one of adventure with several moves and lots of travel with husband LTC (retired) Leander (Rusty) Hathaway Jr. Midge lived in several states including Massachusetts, Idaho, Michigan and ultimately Florida. She was an accomplished golfer, seamstress, gourmet cook and loving mother. She was a successful realtor in Grosse Pointe, Michigan before retiring to Belleair to embark on a life of international travel, boating, golfing and helping others with Rusty.She enjoyed assisting the homeless and contributed hundreds of pounds of citrus and avocados each year that
she grew, to the local food bank. She loved her family and enjoyed visiting with them.
Mildred is survived by sons Kevin Kelley (Shelley Kolseth) of Tampa, Florida, Curt Kelley (Pat) of Boise, Idaho and Stepson Leander Rusty Hathaway III (Mary) of Kihei, HI. She is also survived by her granddaughter Sarah Kelley-Chase (David) of Boise, and great grandchildren Cullen and Morgan. She and her family would like to thank LifePath Hospice of Hillsborough County FL and all of the caregivers and other non-Administrative Staff of Aston Gardens in Tampa who made her comfortable in her final years. Mildred will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, DC with her late husband, Rusty later this year.
