Mildred "Millie" Kinghorn's Obituary
Mildred Kinghorn, "Millie" as she was fondly called, was born in Clare, Michigan on May 20, 1922 and entered her heavenly home on December 25, 2012. She lived in Michigan most of her life before moving to Florida in her later years. Most Recently residing at Mease Manor Retirement Community in Dunedin, Florida. Millie was predeceased by her son, Stephen J. Kinghorn. She is survived by John M. Kinghorn, "Johnny", the love of her life to whom she was married for more than 70 years. Also surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Bruce Brown, her grandchildren Erin Pontius and Blake; Adam Brown and Stephanie; her five great-grandchoildren; Francie, Scotty, Henry, Austin and Eve. In addition, she is survived by her many special nieces, nephews, and their families. Also survivng is Leslie Gibson, a special longtime friend.Millie was a talented artist whose works were displayed at many Art shows in the Detroit, Michigan area. Music was very important in her life as she spent many years singing in her church choir. Maintaining her strong faith in her Lord and Savior was a daily part of her life. There is no doubt she is with Him at peace and singing with the Angels as well. Millie will long be remembered for her generosity and her sense of humor. She loved to make others laugh. She and Johnny spent many years together at Morton Plant Hospital happily performing as the "Friendly and Jolly clowns. They devoted years of their time to making patients feel better through laughter.Travel was an interest they shared. They were able to travel throughout the country and DisneyWorld was one of their favorite spots. Millie and John's home was always filled with love, laughter and friends.A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Mease Manor Jacaranda Chapel. Officiating will be Reverend Peter Kolb, Pastor of Faith Lutheran Church in Dunedin. Interment will take place on Monday, December 31, 2012 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida at 1:00 P.M. A Memorial Service will also be held in Michigan at a later date. Millie's nephew, Pastor George Stehle will be officiating. The family would like to thank the staff of Mease Manor and Suncoast Hospice for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, Donations in Millie's Memory may be made to The Suncoast Hospice.
