With profound sadness, we announce that Myra Jean Cole-Baucom former resident of Kansas City, KS peacefully passed on February 6, 2026, at the age of 89 at the Baylor, Scott & White Hospital in McKinney, TX.
Myra was born on June 2, 1936 as an identical twin by Simon P. Jr. and Loraine (Crawford) Cole.
She graduated from Sumner High School in 1954; she attended Donnelly College and St Petersburg College.
She married her lifetime sweetheart Robert “Bob” in 1955. It quickly turned into a family who made cooking and celebrating the norm. She began to love the art of cooking and decorating as a young housewife. Myra worked at several floral shops and nurseries, where she developed her appreciation for floral design, color schemes and decorating. Her creativity and business savvy reached new levels during her employment at Trans World Airlines. For nineteen years, she traveled the world, gathering new ideas, recipes and cultural traditions that she shared with her loved ones. After her airline career, she started her own company, Naturale & Elegance and personally decorated several large restaurants, weddings and numerous homes. Once Bob and Myra retired to the Lake of the Ozarks in Edwards, MO they continued to travel the world and host gatherings at their lake home. Her passions all flowed together in her entertaining published book, Celebrations Cookbook in 2003. She founded the Cole Link Foundation a nonprofit organization in 2016 in response to her ongoing desire to help and support individuals and organizations in The Arts, Health & Wellness and Educational Awareness.
She was a member of Eastlake Cathedral Church of God in Christ where she wrote and directed several children ministry plays and productions, Friday Fellowship Prayer Line, Jack & Jill of America, The Tallyettes and member of various social clubs.
Myra was the "heart and soul" of our family, teaching us the importance of kindness, prayer, laughter, and family dinners. She lived a full and happy life. She loved music, dancing, writing, entertaining, and playing cards and games. She was the mom who always said yes to one more hug, one more story, and one more adventure. Whether she was working on her writings or testing out new recipes, she brought passion to everything she did. She is survived by her 3 loving children, Gail Lorraine Sanders (Jessie) of FL, Robert Lee Baucom Jr. (Elsie) of Fl and JoLynn Frances Wright of TX who will carry her legacy forward along with 7 grandchildren, Schondra Baucom, Kimalee Harris, Shelbey Wallace, Jonathan Baucom, Michael Baucom, Christina Baucom and Robert Wright, 15 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, 3 sisters Mother Claudia Andrus of CA, Dr. Juana Hishaw of MO, Mary Kennedy-Bracken(Oneal) of CA and 2 brothers Simon “Si” P. Cole lll (Yolanda) of MO and Branham “Benny” Cole (Tina) of MO and a host of extended family and lifelong friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Simon and Loraine Cole, sisters LaRue, Carol, and Jackie, brother LaRen and by her adoring husband, Bob of 57 years.
Myra was beloved by all, and will be solely missed by her family, friends and communities. She touched the lives of many people with her smile, generosity and nurturing love.

Words of Remembrance & Prayer
In Loving Memory
Live Your Life
“So, live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about their religion; respect others in their view, and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and its purpose in the service of your people. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide.
Always give a word or a sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, even a stranger, when in a lonely place. Show respect to all people and grovel to none.
When you arise in the morning give thanks for the food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies only in yourself. Abuse no one and no thing, for abuse turns the wise ones to fools and robs the spirit of its vision.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.”
