Mr. Arnold was the Principal at High Point Elementary when I was in 5/6 th grade. I had gotten sent to his office for some offense I don't recall. I was scared to death! He was sitting in his desk chair. He gave a me a very stern look, kicked the inside of his desk, the drawer slid open and there was the paddle. He didn't take it out or even touch it. Instead, he asked me if I knew an easy way to remember how to spell Principal. "It has the word PAL at the end. Do you want us to be pals?" he asked. I nodded, at that moment, I very much wanted us to be pals! " Then I don't want you back in this office again, unless you're bringing me a Christmas card." he said with a big smile on his face. I never got sent back to that office. However, I had a great new PAL...
R.I.P. Mr, Arnold
I'll never forget
Your Pal,
