Patricia "Pat" Rodenbeck's Obituary
Pat
Wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, chef, entertainer, lover of fun, gardener, boss golfer, skier, traveler and wine drinker. These are the hats Pat wore in her life, and she wore these hats with style.
From the beginning, as we shared a room together growing up all the way through High School, I watched a quiet, smart, shy young girl bloom into a beautiful, confident and extremely motivated woman. Pat was beautiful inside and out. She found her soul mate early. Together for 48 years last month, they braved life together riding the joys and the sorrows that life brings to us. This life morphed her into the fabulous person she was. A loving mother, ask David about the wife thing!, the sweetest sister ever, a loving grandmother, a wonderful friend and the best cook and hostess you could imagine…she loved giving great parties!
Her attitude about life set her apart from others. She loved to have fun!! She and David wanted it all, and worked their tails off to get it!! She was still working up to last week!! She followed David’s lead and loved making him happy. Pat could throw a party and you knew the food would be fabulous and there would be lots of laughing… no boring parties here!
When her health struggles started years ago, she faced them all with tremendous courage. There were so many struggles…you just can’t imagine…she never complained. That is what I will always remember about my little sister. BRAVERY, she faced everything with bravery. She felt lucky, loved and respected to the very last day of her life.
Today she is in the arms of her mother, father and grandparents. I also hope the dogs she loved so much are up there with her. She will always be with us, giving us courage to fight any battle that comes along…
Pat was a fighter to the end…SHE SLID INTO HOME ALL TATTERED AND TORN. That was her plan. I know she was saying after that final moment, “Dave, that was awesome!! I love you and will miss you all and also my Pinot Grigio!”
We will all miss her so much!
Your loving family
