Patsy Kay Niedecken's Obituary
Patsy Kay Niedecken, 87, of Largo, FL passed away on September 6, 2021. Pat was born in Sylvester, Texas on November 7, 1933 to the late Clayton and Odessa (Hood) Carroll. She earned a BSHS from the University of Houston in Houston, Texas. She also earned a MA from Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas.
During her English teaching career, Pat taught Middle School in Anson, Texas, at Cooper High School in Abilene, Texas, and Skyline High School in Dallas, Texas. Before retiring, Pat worked for the Dallas Independent School District developing and writing curriculum for the English IV Academic: World Literature (Honors) program. After retiring from working in public schools for thirty-three years, she worked part-time for the University of Texas at Dallas supervising student teachers for a few years. In addition to her work, Pat enjoyed many hobbies that included, water and snow skiing, scuba diving, and cruising and traveling throughout Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Mexico as well as the United States.
Pat is survived by her daughter Debbie (Thomas) Schalk, son Wes (Vicki) Niedecken, three grandchildren Alex Schalk, Micah Niedecken, and Peri Niedecken. She is also survived by her sister Bette Bass and brother Mike Carroll.
