Paul Connell's Obituary
CONNELL, Paul, 94, of Safety Harbor, died November 25, 2014, at Mease Hospital Countryside, Safety Harbor, Florida. He was born in Chester, Pennsylvania and came here in 1973 from Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. He was a Catholic. A Rutgers University graduate, he was a veteran of World War II and was retired from the army with the rank of Captain after several months in military hospitals due to wounds received in combat. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart, with Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Silver Star. He worked for several years in the steel service center industry as a department supervisor and in sales.
In Pennsylvania, he was active in civil affairs as a member of the Pennsbury Joint School Board, secretary of the Yardley School Board, and as a Shade Tree Commissioner in Yardley. He was president of the Yardley-Makefield Optimist Club. In North Carolina where he vacationed for several years, he was president of the Pine Hill Park Homeowners’ Association in Franklin. Locally, he was a past member of the Kiwanis Club of Dunedin, Safety Harbor, and was a two term president of the Mid-Florida Gulf Coast Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America.
He was preceded in death in 2002 by his beloved wife of 60 years, Marie.
He is survived by a son, Thomas, of Safety Harbor.
Viewing is Saturday, November 29, 2014 from 10 – 11:30am. Service 11:30am at Moss Feaster Funeral Home, Dunedin. Burial will be at Curlew Hills.
