Paul John Dougherty Jr's Obituary
Paul Dougherty, 91, of Palm Harbor, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025
Born in Easton, Pennsylvania on August 16, 1934. Paul lived a long and meaningful life defined by service, dedication, and love for his family and community. He proudly served his country as a United States Marine during the Korean War, an experience that instilled in him the values of honor, perseverance, and loyalty that guided him throughout his life.
Following his service, Paul worked for many years as a purchaser at Lincare, where his dedication and reliability earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike.
For the past 44 years, Paul called Palm Harbor home and was especially proud to be part of the small Ozona community. He cherished the friendships he built, and the countless memories made with his many dear friends and neighbors over the decades.
Paul is survived by his wife Joyce Dougherty. One of four siblings is Elizabeth (Betsy) Clemens and the late Rosemarie Rethmeyer and late Kathy Kingfield. Paul & Joyce married 68 blessed years having 5 children, surviving Paul and wife Elizabeth Dougherty, Susan Russo, Christine and husband Craig Grippe, Sharon and husband Roy Ambler and the late Colleen Dougherty. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Paul enjoyed yardwork, relaxing with a good cigar, playing cards with his club, and spending time at the American Legion. Most of all, he will be remembered for his warmth, wisdom, and the love he shared so generously with all who knew him.
A funeral service will be held on September 5th 9a.m. at Bay Pines National Cemetery (9th St, St Petersburg FL 33708) followed by church service at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church (730 San Salvador Dr, Dunedin FL 34698) at 12noon. Family and friends are welcome to attend and celebrate Paul’s life at the American Legion Post 275 at 2:30pm (360 Wilson St, Dunedin FL 34698)
