Our Mason family, the family of Doug and Shirley Mason, send our love to Janet, the boys and their families, and all of Paul’s extended family.
We were deeply saddened to learn of Paul’s passing, yet it was a reminder of how grateful we are to have grown up with our families sharing such a close bond. From the many, many Bomber years, to hunting trips, raising cattle (yes, watching our dads work cows right here in Clearwater!), to countless family gatherings, especially the fish fries, we made memories that will last a lifetime.
We never called the other parents by their first names. They were always “Uncle” and “Aunt.” So with that, I’ll simply say that Uncle Paul was an incredible man, a big teddy bear with a kind heart who was so good to all of us kids.
There aren’t enough words to express how blessed we are to have had him in our lives. The lifelong friendships our parents shared shaped not only their lives but ours as well, influencing who we became from those “back in the day” years to who we are today.
I’m especially thankful I had the opportunity to spend time with Uncle Paul over the past couple of years. Those times are memories I’ll always treasure, and he will be missed tremendously.
While our hearts grieve, we also find comfort in knowing Uncle Paul is whole again, in the presence of his Savior. And if they play ball in Heaven, I have no doubt all of the old-timers, especially my dad, were there to welcome him home, and they’re probably doing exactly that. What a reunion that must have been. ❤️
