I am truly saddened to hear of the passing of Dr. Peter J Fischinger and his wife, Alex (Marija Alexandra Fischinger). God brought them into my life in late 1994 when Peter became the President of SAIC-FREDERICK. I have so many memories and cannot possibly share them all.
I reported directly to Peter and we all worked very hard (1994-2000). He cared deeply about our mission in support of the NCI and cared for all those he worked with.
I met Alex and worked closely with her preparing events where she and Peter served as very generous hosts for many work related events.
One year Alex took me to lunch to celebrate my birthday, she sang happy birthday to me and a lovely blind woman in the restaurant thanked Alex for sharing her beautiful gift, her voice. Alex took a diamond ring off of her finger and placed it in the woman’s hand and thanked her for being a lovely person. Just one example of their love for people and their generously.
One of the hardest things I ever had to do was drive to their home in Frederick, MD, upon their return home from vacation to tell Peter that his mother had passed.
The last time I talked with Peter was in 2015. I regret that I did not stay in touch after that ... Work and life got in the way.
Peter and Alex were both very kind and generous with their time and financial contributions. I learned a lot from Peter and Alex, including art and music. I love them and will carry them with me, always💜 I know they are together in Heaven. Much love to Peter and Alex, Kathy (Kathy Miller)
