Philip Ward Shoemaker's Obituary
Philip Ward Shoemaker, 95, of Pinellas Park, FL, passed away on January 29, 2020. Philip was born on October 4, 1924 as a 5th generation Washingtonian to Walter Shoemaker and Laura Ward. He attended Woodrow Wilson High school and graduated with the class of 1943. He enlisted into the U.S. Navy in July of 1943 in Great Lakes, Wisconsin and was honorably discharged in April of 1946. While in the Navy, he received accreditation from Northwestern University and acted as a Radioman in both the Atlantic and Pacific Areas until the conclusion of World War II. After the war, Philip entered into the insurance business and later retired as Vice president of the Frank S. Philips Insurance Agency in 1985. He was a member of the American Legion in Maryland Post 0297.
Philip is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Priscilla Shoemaker; mother, Laura Shoemaker; Father, Walter Shoemaker; 2 sisters Virginia Worsham and Thelma Murphy and brother, Walter E. Shoemaker.
Philip leaves behind his three children, Gary Shoemaker, Karen Payne and Laura Bradley; five grandchildren, Shaun Bradley, Adam Bradley, Aaron Bradley, Ashley Bradley, Garrett Shoemaker; and 5 great grandchildren, Star, Georgia, Landon, Lyla and Waylon.
Celebration of Life services will be held at Mountain View Community Church on March 14th at 11:00am in Frederick, MD.
