I’ll never forget the day I was visiting my father-in-law’s condo in Dunedin for the first time back in 2017. I must have been quite the sight when a random 27-year-old rolled into the pool area and started chatting with you and Trish! That’s one of the qualities I loved most about you and made us instant friends, Ray! You and Trish welcomed me as one of your own (and soon after, Geoff as well) that day and hanging out laughing, connecting, watching football, and breaking bread together was so natural.

Little did my husband and I know that our own world would be rocked within the next year, loosing his dad in Dunedin. Without hesitation, you both offered us to stay with you during the hardest 5 days of our lives. We were, are, and forever will be grateful for your warmth, openness, compassion, hospitality, love, and care for us then when you didn’t need to do a thing (these photos were taken that toughest day).

Though we didn’t get to see one another many times in person, we are so grateful to have known you. You left a mark on our hearts and we will carry you with us always until we are reunited once again.

This is a heartbreaking time. I'm grief-stricken to learn of Raymond's passing. He was just about my best friend for many years. Unique, brilliant, kind, charming, insightful, talented, strong, sensitive, generous -- the adjectives that describe him are endless. I have so many cherished memories of the evenings I spent with him and Trish in Weymouth (and Dunedin) and the hours I whiled away with him at Raymond Personal Tailor in Boston. I could reminisce for days about all the unforgettable times we shared. Raymond was a huge, enduring presence for so many people. He will be missed and remembered.

I've just written to Trish and want to share my thoughts with the many people who loved Raymond. This is a heartbreaking time, and I'm grief-stricken to learn that "Me Old China" is gone. I find myself reaching for words and coming up short, which tells you something about the immensity of what we've lost. He was just about my best friend for many years. Unique, brilliant, kind, charming, insightful, talented, strong, sensitive, generous — the adjectives that describe him are endless. He was unmistakably himself in every room he walked into. I recall with such affection the evenings we spent together in Weymouth (and in Dunedin) — the kind of easy, unhurried time that's rare to find with anyone, let alone for as many years as we had it. And the endless hours he and I spent together at Raymond Personal Tailor in Boston. As a school friend of Graeme’s, my memory of Ray has always been his generous nature and fascinating story telling. A group of us would often meet Graeme at his father’s shop in Porthcawl before we each started work in neighbouring shops.

Ray would make us all cups of tea and entertain with fascinating stories from the End East. All the while a magnificent suit would just appear in front of our eyes from a roll of cloth. Ray will be sadly missed.

So sorry to read this post Ray was a true gentleman and an excellent tailor Arthur missed him when they moved to Iowa we have many happy memories of evenings spent together such lovely times he will be sadly missed. Our condolences to Trish Graham Bev and the boys . Rest in peace Ray Arthur and Marilyn
