Richard A. Burke's Obituary
Richard Allen Burke, 72, of Clearwater, passed away September 23, 2017 at home under hospice care. He was born July 10, 1945 in Oak Park, IL to parents Harold & Eileen Burke (deceased).He spent some time in the seminary in Michigan, joined the Navy and served on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt during Vietnam. Besides his parents, Richard is preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Rice. Survivors include his wife of almost 30 years, Bonnie; a son, Michael Joseph Burke (Ester); stepchildren, Lorrie & Danny; siblings, Mary Lou (Jimmy) Johnson, Robert (Nancy), Eileen (Bart) Collins,Tommy (Patti), Harold (Rosanne), Gerianne (Bob) Bailey, Kevin (Jan), many nieces and nephews; granddaughters, Sofia, and Adrienne, grandsons Brian and Josh and 6 great grandchildren. He moved to Clearwater in 1996 from Chicago, where he lived and worked most of his life. He was a faithful member of St. Brendan Catholic Church, went to daily Mass and on Sundays he served as an usher, Eucharist minister, Altar server and reader. He had many friends from the church and neighborhood, as he loved to walk the beach and talk to everyone he met along the way. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity, cancer fund, St. Jude’s or the Shriners.
