Richard A Carlson's Obituary
Richard A. Carlson passed away on October 23, 2019 at his home in Tarpon Springs, FL at the age of 78 after a long illness.
Richard was born in Torrington, CT the son of Andrew Carlson and Shirley Britton Carlson. Resided in Torrington and Harwinton CT before moving to Palm Harbor then Tarpon Springs, FL.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife Jane Carpenter Carlson, daughter Kim Fadoir from Tarpon Springs FL and son John Carlson from Palm Harbor, FL. He was predeceased by a brother Roland Carlson (wife Rosemary) from Pana, IL.
Six grandchildren: Joseph Fadoir (Maine), John Fadoir, Jordan Carlson, JC (John Richard Jr.) Carlson, Jaden Carlson and Jared Carlson all of Florida. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces and cousins.
A graduate of Wamogo Regional High School in Litchfield CT, he attended The University of Connecticut where he studied Dairy Manufacturing.
Early in his career he was employed by Toll Gate Dairy managing the ice cream department. He was the owner of Carlson Carpet Installation Company. He retired in 2007 from Carl’s Carpet in Torrington, CT as an estimator.
Richard was a member of Elks Lodge No. 372 in Torrington, CT for many years. He belonged to the Goshen Agricultural Society serving on the Photography Committee (Goshen Fair) and was a member of the Torrington Historical Society.
Richard was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed attending his twin grandsons’ baseball games. He had a lot of friends; among them were John B. Acerbi (wife Judy) of Litchfield and Erwin Murdock (wife Jane) of Farmington, CT.
Cremation arrangements are being made by Moss Feaster Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery in Torrington, CT at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers Jane would like donations made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or Suncoast Hospice Foundation, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd, Clearwater, FL 33760-9962.
