Richard "Bill" Hollingsworth's Obituary
Hollingsworth, Richard William, “Bill”, 97, of Clearwater passed on May 1st, 2018.
Bill was born in Fulton, New York. In 1941, he enlisted in the Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY. and achieved the rank of Lt. Commander.
He established a career with Foremost Insurance as Zone Vice President and retired to Florida with his wife, “Tommie” who was battling cancer at the time.
Bill was also very active in the Abilities Guild which assists our veterans and served as past President. He loved Jazz, movies, musicals, singing, playing tennis, skiing, and travel.
He was predeceased by his parents, Anna and William Hollingsworth, a brother, Newell and 3 sisters, Hazel, Harriet and Ann and his first wife Tommie in 1985.
Bill is survived by his wife of 31 years, Gloria, 3 children Rick (Cathy), Susan Pheffer and Jon (Melinda). Grandchildren, Paul Pheffer (Jill), Briton Pheffer Groppa (Christopher), Keaton Pheffer, Ethan Hollingsworth and Grant Hollingsworth. Great Grandchildren, Wesley, Wade, Lisette, Anderson and Auden Pheffer, and Ella Groppa.
A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, May 8th at Belleair Country Club, 1 Country Club Lane, Belleair.
