Richard. I just found out what happened. I don’t know why we drifted apart after high school. I guess life just took a hold of us and sent us off in different directions. You were someone who I really got along with, and I felt like we had so many things in common to talk about. I remember being at our friend’s NYE party and we both just sat there, awkward and silently taking to each other. That was us. Rest In Peace, brother.
Richard, I miss you and think of you often. I wish you were here, even though I know you're here with us in spirit. We are walking to honor you this weekend in the Out of Darkness Walk for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. I'm hopeful you're watching over us. I pray you're looking down on us & that you will be proud of what we are doing to help and support others as well as having the privilege of walking in memory of your kind soul. I'm sorry I wasn't there to help you when you really needed support. I wish I had known you were hurting. I'm sorry and I know that's now enough & it's too late now, but I'm going to try to make it right in some way. I promise to spend more time with family and support everyone, whether I can see there hurt & pain or if I can't. Life is way too short. Family is forever. Some days there are not words to share the love and hurt I feel. Some days there is nothing to write that will make the pain less real. So for today I simply write: I miss you more than words can say, I miss you more than poems express, I miss and love you every day. I miss you Richard. You were such a sweet, gentle and kind person. Highly intelligent and wise beyond your years. I'm so proud to call you my brother. I will always feel like there is something missing, a piece of me is missing. The moment that you left me, my heart was split in two. One side was filled with memories; the other side died with you. I often lay awake at night when the world is fast asleep; and take a walk down memory lane with tears upon my cheek. Remembering you is easy, I do it everyday; but missing you is heartache that never goes away. Richard was such a kind and smart individual. Full of love for his sisters, mother, father, and nephews. Shy but funny he was always full of laughter and always giving us something to chuckle about. Being friends with Jeanne and Richard and spending summers at their house will always be a collection of memories I will always cherish. So much so I feel they became a part of my family and I became a part of their's. It is hard to realize a friend, son, and brother is gone. Now that he is gone we must remember he is in a place where no pain and no anguish exist. My deepest regards.
