Richard W McClure's Obituary
Richard William McClure, 64, of Palm Harbor, FL, formerly of Charlotte, NC and Abington, PA, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, September 1, 2019. He and his wife, Judy McClure, were to celebrate their 39th wedding anniversary on September 6, 2019.
Born July 17, 1955 in Abington, PA, he was son of the late James McClure and Ethel Moll McClure. He was preceded in death by his father, James McClure; his mother, Ethel McClure; sister, Jeanne McClure; and his sister-in-law, Margaret McClure. He grew up in Abington, PA and was a 1973 graduate of Abington High School, where he played baseball. He later graduated from Pennsylvania State University in State College, PA with a B.S. in Food Service and Housing Administration.
Richard was a dedicated husband and father, who loved his family dearly. He also led a career in sales with Campbell Soup Company for 15 years, EMCO for 2 years, and General Foods for 8 years. Colleagues speak highly of his character, integrity, and leadership. They recall the pride with which he spoke of his boy’s accomplishments and love he shared with his wife, Judy. Though work was a big part of his life, retirement brought Rich much joy through the treasure of grandchildren. His greatest love in life was for his family and he cherished time spent together with them as much as possible. Rich also attended Idlewild Baptist Church in Lutz, FL.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Kevin McClure and his wife, Abby, and Andrew McClure and his wife, Katie; eight grandchildren, Brendan, Emma, Hunter, and William to Kevin and Abby, and David, Rebekah, Heidi, and Michael to Andrew and Katie; and his brother James McClure Jr. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Dolores Cahall and niece and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial services. A visitation service will be held at Moss Feaster Funeral Home, 1320 Main St, Dunedin, FL 34698, on Friday, September 6, 2019 at 2 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Church of the Open Door, 1260 Fort Washington Ave, Fort Washington, PA 19034, on Friday, September 13, 2019 at 7 p.m. Family will receive friends from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. Private burial will take place at Whitemarsh Memorial Park in Ambler, PA on the morning of September 14, 2019.
