Richard B. Siple's Obituary
Richard (Dick) Boardman Siple 93, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2019. Pre-deceased by his wife of 69 years, LaVerne. Dick is survived by his son Marvin (Leah), daughter Caroline (Bob), 2 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Born in Lawrence, Kansas December 10, 1925, Dick moved with his family to Clearwater as a child. He attended South Ward Elementary School and graduated from Clearwater High School in 1943. Dick enlisted in the Merchant Marines supporting our country’s efforts during World War ll. After marrying LaVerne, Dick worked as the site prep manager for a developer. His work is still evident in local areas such as Keene Lake Estates and Greenbriar. During the 1960’s Dick took over The Garden Seat Restaurant operations from his mother. The restaurant later known as “Siple’s Garden Seat Restaurant” was a Clearwater landmark until Dick’s retirement in 1990. “Retirement “ lasted about....a week, at which point he volunteered at Morton Plant Hospital where he holds a record for hours logged.
He “made a difference” throughout his life.
Peace is his at last.
