Richard W Stroup III's Obituary
Richard Williard Stroup the III (aka Costa Rican sensation) resident of Clearwater, Florida born February 4th, 1983, in Albany, New York and raised in Troy/Watervliet was called home on July 18, 2022, after a prolonged illness. Richard is survived by his children Devan, Ricky, Hailey and Leda and his beloved wife “soulmate” Lorie Lynn Stroup, along with his corn chip smelling dog Aries. He is the son of Richard (Maxine) Stroup the II and the late Leda Zeledon (Paul) Newman. Furthermore, Rich was the son in law of Theresa (Bill) Daley aka (momma t) and Daniel (Karen) Mccann. His siblings Liane and Christopher of Castleton NY and stepsister Sara, (Eddie) Whitaker and Jason (Lorie) Laustrup. In addition, he is survived by several cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, also brother and sister in laws, who referred to him as “uncle truck,” and an incredible network of friends especially Richie Siddons and James Winston. Growing up at the age of 7 Richard picked up a hockey stick and never put it down until the age of 24 when
he met the love of his life Lorie Lynn. They loved spending summers in Lake George and those who truly knew Rick and Lorie understood on their Saturday nights they loved to dance together and live life to the fullest. Eventually after six remarkable years in Lake George Richard moved his family to Clearwater Florida for new beginnings. Richard was a troy high graduate and attended Hudson valley college. Rick worked for the company Kiewit as a superintendent and loved his job so much that he had his employees call him the “concrete god.” He gives all his respect and love for becoming that person to his best friend Tyler. Ricks drive and work ethic made it hard to slow him down. His strength, courage and positive outlook touched and inspired countless people, leaving everyone the message to live life to the fullest and to find true love. Ricks children and wife were his entire world and they filled him with so much joy and pride. Rick was so proud of who they are and what they have achieved in their young lives and continues to do so. He was their number one fan and each one admired their father's hard work ethic, toughness, and beauty. Richard would do anything for anybody and strived to make others successful in life. Richard had a beautiful soul and is truly going to be missed. The world utterly lost one of the great ones.
On behalf of his wife and children at the time instead of donating flowers they would appreciate if those who would like to donate to Troy youth hockey association. Hockey was Ricks first love until he met Lorie and had a family which is why it would mean a lot to us if we could give a child in need the opportunity to fill a dream.
