Robert "Bob" Daniel Coppo's Obituary
Robert “Bob” Daniel Coppo, 84, of Center Harbor, New Hampshire, and Clearwater, passed away unexpectedly on February 17, 2026, in Clearwater, Florida.
Born in Keene, New Hampshire, Bob graduated with the Class of 1960 from Keene High shortly after graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1964. He was stationed in Coronado, California, and Oahu, Hawaii. Following his military service, he graduated from Hawthorne College and began a long and dedicated career with New England Telephone Company. Starting as a lineman, Bob advanced through the ranks to become an engineering supervisor. After 33 years, he retired from the company, then known as Verizon. In retirement, he continued working for several years with Sprint and SunCom in their cellular tower installation division.
Bob was a devoted Mason for 42 years and a member of Masonic Altemont Lodge No. 26 in Peterborough, New Hampshire. He attained the 33rd Degree of Scottish Rite Freemasonry, the highest honor in the Scottish Rite. He served as Past Master of Altemont Lodge and as Grand Organist for the Grand Lodge of New Hampshire for many years.
Bob cherished summers on Lake Winnipesaukee, where he enjoyed boating and fishing. His winters were happily spent in Clearwater, Florida, surrounded by family and his many longtime friends—fondly known as “Gilsum South.” He especially enjoyed golfing with his Serendipity Monday Crew and playing with his Cribbage Club.
Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife of 55 years, Marilyn (Hull) Coppo. He is survived by his sister, Constance (Coppo) Lacasse and her husband, Gerald Lacasse, of New Hampshire; his daughter, Kimberly (Coppo) Nikopoulos and her husband, Charles Nikopoulos, of Massachusetts; and his son, Jeffrey Robert Coppo and his wife, Sarah Coppo, of New Hampshire. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Courtney (Coppo) Farnsworth, Alexander Nikopoulos, Olivia Nikopoulos, Malcolm Coppo, and Anthony Coppo.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Charity/Altemont Lodge #18, P.O. Box 175, West Peterborough, NH 03468.
