Robert Emmet Treacy's Obituary
Robert Emmet Treacy, former resident of Apalachicola and of South Carolina died on April 10, 2011 at Mease Dunedin Hospital. A service will be held at Moss Feaster Funeral Home on Main Street in Dunedin FL on Wednesday at 9 a.m. Robert was born August 5, 1944 in the Bronx, New York City to John Joseph and Sarah Treacy as the seventh of eight children. Preceded by his parents and brothers John Joseph, Jr., James Francis, Thomas Michael, and Brian Hugh Treacy, Robert Emmet is survived by his loving wife Virginia Treacy of Dunedin, his only child Robert Emmet Treacy, Jr. of Charleston, SC and his siblings Patrick Edward, Susan Marie and Philip Kevin Treacy, as well as many nieces and nephews and friends. A graduate of The University of South Carolina's graduate school in theater, Robert had a lifelong passion for literature, poetry, drama and history which inspired travel and adventures in South America, Mexico, Europe and Africa and a love for sharing moving verses and stories with others. He taught at USC-Salkahatchie and at several different levels in varied subjects. The call of the ocean drew Robert to his cherished career as a commercial fisherman as a shrimper and an oysterman, primarily in the Gulf of Mexico, out of his longtime home in Apalachicola. Known as a free spirit, Bob's big personality and kind heart touched many lives. His light will be missed.
