Robert A. Ghiotto's Obituary
Robert “Bob” Alonzo Ghiotto, 93 years young, passed away quietly in Clearwater, Florida May 20, 2026.
Born on the 14th of February, 1933 in Mulberry, Florida, Robert was the star quarterback at Mulberry High his senior year where he met the love of his life and the head cheerleader, Joan Annette Moody. They married on August 22, 1953. Bob loved sports and excelled in football, track and field and baseball. In his adult years, he enjoyed golf.
Bob served in the US Army from 1955-1957 and graduated as a Civil Engineer from University of Florida, “Go Gators!”. During his career as a Professional Engineer he became a Vice President at CH2MHill and serving as a respected consultant.
Bob is preceded in death by his loving wife Joan, his parents and 3 siblings. His survivors include 3 children, Jeff (Sherry) Ghiotto, Stuart (Carol) Ghiotto and Ginny (Mike) Puckett and 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Bob has served as a church leader in various Christian churches, including both nondenominational as well as Baptist and Methodist. His reputation was as a wise and firm counselor, mentor and Bible teacher. Several church leaders attribute their success to Bob’s discipleship and influence. He liked being a pastor’s helper and a number two man. He served other leaders knowing their success was his as well. His life reflected his love for God and family and most of all his wife, who he lovingly served through years of extended illness. Bob’s generosity has helped countless individuals and families when the odds were against them. He not only gave of himself financially, but shared his wisdom for problem solvingand making lasting changes which served his community well.
