Robert D. Martin's Obituary
Robert Durboraw Martin “Bud”, 90, of Clearwater, FL, died on October 9, 2023.
He was born in Glenridge, NJ in 1933, to Margaret and George Martin. He grew up in Linden, NJ and graduated from Linden High School. He loved playing basketball. Joined the Army in 1952. Was at Fort Riley, Kansas in the 10th Infantry Division during the Korean War. Was honorably discharged as Corporal Robert D. Martin. Worked as a machinist supervisor at LJ Wing and then Lilly Tulip.
Bud met the love of his life, Barbara in 1962. Excited to start their new lives together the two were married on April 27, 1963, (celebrated 60 years). They had two children, Robin and Robert.
In 1969, they moved to Clearwater, FL where Bud started his own construction business. In 1981 they moved and spent many years in Safety Harbor, FL in the home he custom built. He loved to play golf, was a big Yankees fan, was very active in his kid’s school activities, especially with the band at Countryside High School, and loved going on cruises.
He had a servant heart and was always willing to help others. He loved spending time with his family, neighbors and friends. Bud always had a great smile, laugh and beautiful blue eyes.
Bud was preceded in death by Richard Martin, brother and Doris Grunden, sister and is survived by Barbara E. Martin, spouse, Robin M. Nellis (Dave Nellis) daughter and Robert E. Martin, son.
Service to be held at Moss Feaster Funeral Home, 1320 Main St. Dunedin, on Saturday, October 21, 2023. Visitation will be held from 2pm – 3pm, followed be a service at 3pm, with reception immediately following.
