Robert A. Pack's Obituary
Robert Allen Pack, 84, died Thursday, November 14, 2019.
Bob was born in Wayland, Kentucky and spent his childhood years in West Van Lear, Kentucky eventually living in Louisville, Kentucky. He was a graduate of Louisville Male High School, where he played the trumpet in the marching band. These were some of his fondest memories. He attended the University of Kentucky and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from the University of South East Missouri in 1957. After graduating he went to work as a manager for Montgomery Wards in Centralia, Illinois and eventually went on to establish himself as a successful business man in the retail grocery business, he owned several Dairy Marts, Convenient Food Marts, in Louisville, Kentucky and the surrounding areas. He loved spending time with his family, boating, listening to his favorite trumpet players and especially playing (and usually winning) a competitive round of Rummy.
He was a member of The Grand Lodge of Kentucky, F. and A.M., Boas Lodge #85, Kosair Shrine Temple. Additionally, he was a member of the Royal Order of the Moose and a Kentucky Colonel. While he lived most of his life in Louisville, Kentucky, he spent the last several years of his life being lovingly cared for in the home of his daughter, Jeana Campbell, in Tampa, Florida.
He was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother and son, preceded in death by his parents, Mildred Blair and William C. Pack, and a sister, Wanda Lee Bratcher. He is survived by three daughters, Dedy R. Slack, (Don), Holly G. Elliott and Jeana A. Campbell, (Mark), seven grandchildren, Shawn Slack, Jill Portier, Dustin Elliott, August Elliott, Juliet Turner, Allison Elliott, Kayla Crawford and five great-grandchildren, Harley Jones, Claire Slack, Pierce Portier, Leif and Cymbeline McMonnies.
There will be a Celebration of Life in January, 2020, date is yet to be determined, in Louisville, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made, in his honor, to the Alzheimer’s Association.
