Rose Mauro's Obituary
Rose Mauro, 93, of Fairfield CT passed peacefully on August 11, 2017 with her family by her side. Rose was a typesetter for the Town Crier Newspaper in Fairfield and the Westport News. She enjoyed volunteering at the Westport Country Playhouse and was a voting poll moderator for the Town of Fairfield for many years. She was also a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Fairfield, CT. Rose loved to sing with her friends at the Roger Sherman Inn and the Spinning Wheel. Her proudest roles were homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Rose loved to cook, bake and entertain. We will particularly miss her eggplant parmesan, apple pie, and her “S” cookies.
Rose is preceded in death by her husband, Gene J. Mauro, Sr. She is survived by her daughter, Carole Mauro Gray (Marvin) of Palm Harbor, FL; son, Frank Mauro (Susan) of Alpharetta, GA; son, Gene J. Mauro, Jr. (Wendy) of Monroe, CT; daughter, Lucy DiGrazia (Michael) of Scottsdale, AZ; sister, Josephine DeSousa of Cherry Hill, NJ; fourteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Bayou Gardens Assisted Living in Dunedin, Florida and the Pearl Team at Suncoast Hospice in Palm Harbor, Florida for the exceptional care they provided. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Suncoast Hospice, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd, Clearwater, FL 33760, in remembrance of Rose Mauro.
