Ruth McMaster's Obituary
Ruth McMaster of Dunedin, formerly of Ontario, Canada, passed from this world to the next on Friday, April 20 at Brookside Hospice in Palm Harbor. She joins her father and mother, Fredrick and Annie Barker, brothers Fred, Lester, and Bill, and her beloved husband John. She is survived by her sister Laura, sons David and Paul and wives, grandchildren Steven, Michael and wife, Amy and Dana, great-grandson Nicholas, and many nieces and nephews. During her long life, Ruth took joy in being with her family. She was always active in whatever church she attended, especially in prayer groups. She served others as a Meals On Wheels volunteer and as a volunteer at Manor Care nursing home. Having survived her husband John by many years, she was independent and determined to remain in her own home as long as possible. In spite of serious health issues including severe visual impairment, chronic pain, and several badly broken bones, she remained cheerful, seldom complaining about her conditions. These words pay fitting tribute to the life of Ruth McMaster: "I am now ready…, the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them that love his appearing." II Timothy 4:6-8 KJV. A memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday, April 25 at 11 AM at Bible Baptist Church, 280 Riviere Road, Palm Harbor, FL 34683. According to her wishes, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bible Baptist Tabernacle (Building) Fund or Suncoast Hospice, 5771 Roosevelt Boulevard, Clearwater, FL 33760.
