"Cooking" was to Sarah what water is to fish. Somewhere in her travels she also catered, and long after her catering career was over, she just loved to entertain friends with a beautifully set table and a wonderfully presented, very special gourmet meal. She had many changes of settings for her table, which was properly set at all times. The decor was inspired by the place and the seasons. Her taste and color scheme were impeccable.
She was a very spontaneous artist, the best kind. When I once gave her a birthday card that she particularly liked, it was not long before she presented me with a lovely framed watercolor that was not a replica of the card, but an evolution of it.
Sarah's life had its share of heartaches, but she resolutely soldiered on. She was determined to make the most of things, a really courageous soul.
She was very devoted to those she loved. The only tennis court in the little hamlet of Warren NH where she lived for a while with her late husband is the one that Sarah had built for him. When he no longer was able to play, the local school children were allowed to come with their class to use it.
After her husband died, her precious dog Gibson became the star around which her world pivoted. She had framed pictures of "Gibby" on tables and end pieces. There was no question of his place in her world. When that star went out after a long and happy life of his own, I believe Sarah was at a point where she felt her work here was finished, too. She was not long in following him out of this world.
We miss you and remember you fondly, Sarah.
