Sarah L. McCraney's Obituary
Sarah Lenora McCraney, 77, passed away on January 1, 2013 at her home in Dunedin. She was born in Dunedin on March 4, 1935 to Cyrus Falls and Bonnie Ware Falls. Sarah attended Dunedin Elementary School, Dunedin Junior High School, and Clearwater High School. She graduated from St. Petersburg Junior College with an AA degree. She worked at the Dunedin Post Office and was one of the first female carriers that delivered mail on a bicycle. She worked there for 41 years. Sarah married Alvin McCraney on December 23, 1952 in Brantley County, Georgia and later had a church wedding in Dunedin. Al and Sarah were happily married for 48 years. Sarah was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dunedin. She had perfect attendance in Sunday School for over 72 years Through the years, she volunteered at the Dunedin Historical Society and in 2001 received recognition for her "Time and dedication as a board member". In 2006, she received the "Lifetime Achievement Award" for her work. Sarah was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was preceded in death by her parents Cyrus and Bonnie, her husband Alvin, and her brother Cyrus T. Falls. She is survived by her three children, Bonnie (with husband Robert), Mary, and David (with wife Marcy). Sarah's grandchildren are Reece, Sarah, Samantha, Truth and Madison. Her great-grandchildren are Eve and Dylan. She was a wonderful mother who was dedicated to family, work, church, and community service. A Memorial Service will be held at Moss-Feaster Funeral Home in Dunedin on Friday at 2 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of Dunedin and Suncoast Hospice.
