Sharon Ann Fresia's Obituary
Sharon Ann Fresia (nee Hamer) of Clearwater, Florida passed away peacefully on October 5 at the age of 76. Born in 1946 in New Prague, Minnesota to Dorothy and John Hamer. Sharon was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. Sharon was preceded in death by her brother David Hamer. Sharon is survived by her husband Paul, her brothers Mark (Karen) and Paul (Barb), her children Michael (Jessica), Matthew (Abby), Marcus (Katherine) and Megan (Kyle), her grandchildren, JoEllen, Nicolas, Noah, Aubrey and Adeline and her furbaby Bailee.
For those that knew Sharon best, she was a selfless, gentle and fun-loving person who was always positive and smiling. As a mother, teacher and wife she tirelessly gave her entire being to those around her on a daily basis usually juggling a full-time career and the care of her four rambunctious children and, eventually, five grandchildren. In the little free time, she had outside of familial obligations, she was an ardent supporter of the Tampa Lightning and Rays and she often enjoyed kicking her feet up at a local brewery and picking a beer that she said she "could drink all day." She had a passion for learning and teaching and instilled in her students and children the same zeal for education as was witnessed by her almost 40-year career in the profession. After retiring she began exploring the world and spending time traveling to and with her children and grandchildren. She bravely persevered in her decade long battle with breast cancer that didn't dampen her spirit or soul at all despite the huge toll it took on her body.
A visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, October 11, from 6-8 pm at Moss Feaster Funeral Home, 1320 Main Street, Dunedin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Sharon on Wednesday, October 12, at 10 am at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 2281 State Road 580, Clearwater, with Reverend Theodore Costello presiding.
Memorial donations in memory of Sharon can be made to Stand Up to Cancer, a cancer research charity that was close to Sharon's heart during her battle with breast cancer.
