Sharon P. Turner “Shai”, age 74, passed away peacefully on August 19,2021 with her daughter by her side at Suncoast Mid-County Hospice center after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Sharon was born in Elgin, Illinois on No Read Obituary
I had the pleasure to know and work with Sharon for 8 years at Safety Harbor Elementary School. What a professional. She was a dedicated, caring teacher who loved working with the children. She will be missed by all who knew her.

I was Sharon's caregiver for many years at The Diagnostic Clinic. She was a lovely and stoic woman. Peace to her and your family.
Merrell and family, my deepest sympathy for your loss. Sharon was at SHE when I arrived. She was always helpful to new teachers. On field days she always participated and on days where the teachers played the students she gave her competitive best. I hope to find some of those pictures to share. She joined us often at the Coliseum for sock hop dances and we danced the night away! I will always be grateful how she supported my family when I was away for 3 weeks during my mother's passing. Mrs. Turner was my kindergarten teacher in 1981-82 at Safety Harbor Elem. I remember her being very caring and nurturing to all the students. I like to think that her early, positive influence helped me to have a forever love of learning. Rest in Peace Mrs. Turner.
Worked many years with Sharon at Safety Harbor Elementary School. She loved her kindergarten students and one of the things I remember is how when Sharon brought her class to the lunchroom each day, she used part of her own lunch break to stay with her class thru the lunch line until every child had their tray and was seated before she would go to the lounge and have her own lunch. She was also my grandson's kindergarten teacher and treated every student with love as she prepared each one during that ever important first year of their education for their futures. Pictured below is my grandson Chase dancing with Sharon and our school cook Mrs. Lopez at my wife's retirement party. Rest In Peace Sharon......gone but not forgotten!

Shai grew up as my big sister and someone I looked up to. We lived two houses away until I was 7 and I have so many childhood memories of her and the family. Since we had no family locally, they were our family; her grandparents became our grandparents. We have even taken trips together. She will be so missed!
Many blessings for comfort. Sharon and I grew up together...first living across the street and then after the Palmers moved to Skycrest. We shared wonderful times together at our homes, at her grandparent Crown's beach home and other times creating beautiful memories. I loved teaching Kindergarten with Sharon for six years, and being her colleague until she retired. She loved her students and was so creative with her lessons. We “enjoyed” our kindergarten sleepovers, Grandparents’ Day shows, and birthday get togethers. I also enjoyed spending time with her at trainings and working with her on committees. Sharon was a devoted teacher, and a good friend. May she Rest In Peace.
