RIP dear Shirley. The slide show of pictures is absolutely beautiful, and reminds everyone of all of the wonderful memories with you over the years. I'll always remember the visits Jim and I made down to Clearwater, before and after the kids were born. The restaurant we always went to with the beautiful outdoor garden area and statues, your specialty homemade chicken parmigiana and spaghetti, and you always had a refrigerator and freezer full of a variety of Entenmanns cakes, ready for all the visitors. Also remember stopping in to see you down at the Snapper Inn in Oakdale on one of your more recent trips to LI. You will be missed, sweet Mother-in-law.
I went to school with Shirley in Bayport, N.Y. We had a great time Shirl was a great help when I wanted to be a cheerleader and made the team. I met Shirl a few times in Clearwater. I drove up from North Fort Myers and she and one of her daughters drove half way down state so we could meet for lunch. Alberta was there a few times for lunch. We always talked about the old times in Bayport. I will miss Shirley but I will remember the good times at the Sugar Bowl. Love to the family, Annie Clegg Matthias.
I remember when my family lived upstate NY, in Swan lake. and my Uncle Jim and Aunt Shirley would drive up to Swan lake about 3.5 hours away from Selden NY, Where the Cooks lived, to come up and pick me up for 2 weeks in the summer, and I always had the best time with my family from Long Island. Aunt Shirley was always doing something for us kids. She was an awesome Mom and great Aunt to the Ryder kids. May you rest in peace Aunt Shirley, I know your sister Joan is praying for the family to get through this.
