Stanley Davis Chovnick's Obituary
On March 27th 2019, Dr. Stanley D Chovnick MD passed from this earthly realm. Born to immigrant parents in New York City on April 30th, 1930, Stanley and his 3 siblings made the American dream a reality.
Stanley grew up in the New York City area. As a young man, he found baseball to be his passion. Though he wished to be a professional ball player, Stanley’s parents insisted he continue his studies and he went on to graduate in 1951 from New York University as a Phi Beta Kappa. Then in 1956, he graduated from the State University of New York Medical School in Syracuse, finding his new passion in medicine. After Residency in Surgery at Bronx Municipal Hospital, Stanley completed a second residency in Urology. Surgery and Urology became his life’s work. In addition to running his own medical practice in Cobleskill, New York, Stanley taught as an Assistant Clinical Professor in Urology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. Stanley and his family moved to New Port Richey, Florida in 1971. He dedicated himself to a very long career in Urology, based in New Port Richey and the surrounding areas, touching many lives in the process.
Stanley was involved with many medical business ventures over the years. He finally retired at the age of 77. Continuing with his passion for life, Stanley was an avid fitness and healthy living follower, he was a marathon runner, and enjoyed swimming miles at Clearwater Beach. He was rewarded with a long life, living out his day’s active and at home.
His many stories will be missed by those who met him and especially by his family. Stanley is survived by his brother Dr. Arnold Channing MD (Julie), his children Ananda Carin Devi (Paul), Bruce Chovnick (Angie), Josh Chovnick, Pamela Nell Chovnick (Jonathan), 8 grandchildren, 3 greatgrandchildren, many cousins and extended family.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a Youth Athletic program of your choice.
