Devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather & Great Grandfather and WW II VeteranStanley John "Jack" Doubleskey, age 84, of Clearwater, Fla., passed away Tuesday morning, June 29, 2010, at Mease Countryside Hospital. Jack was born on May 11, 1926, in Philadelphia and grew up at 71 Amboy Avenue in Roebling, NJ. His father was John Debrolouska (Jack changed his name); his mother, Stella Shand, had emigrated from Poland. Jack joined the U.S. Navy in 1943 at the age of 17 and served as a Ship's Cook Third Class V6 during WWII. He participated in the D-Day invasion off the coast of Normandy and earned three medals: Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal and European Theatre Medal (2 stars).Jack and Agnes Marian Hunt were married on May 21, 1949, in the Catholic Church after they met at a local dance. The couple moved to Hollywood, Fla., in the '50s, where they raised two daughters, Marian and Jackie. Jack worked as a butcher/meat cutter for Pantry Pride and later, Penn Dutch Meats. In 1997, Jack and Agnes moved to New Port Richey, Fla., where they bought their dream home on a canal and lived many happy years.Jack suffered a stroke in 2003; he had always been very healthy before. In 2006, Jack and Agnes moved to a smaller home in Village on the Green in Clearwater to be closer to their daughter, Marian, who lives in Dunedin. Jack is lovingly remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and wonderful "Pop-Pop." He always had a smile for everyone, and loved to sing and dance. "Deep in the Heart of Texas" was his favorite song. Jack was known for his corny jokes, and was an avid fisherman and home handyman. Jack was preceded in death by both of his parents, his sister Anna and several aunts and uncles, and his son-in-law, Gary Finehirsh. Survivors include his wife Agnes of the home; daughter Marian Finehirsh of Dunedin, Fla.; daughter and son-in-law Jacquelyn and Steffen Smith of Blue Ridge, Ga.; grandsons Jeffrey Finehirsh (with wife Jennifer of Holiday, Fla.), Jonathan Finehirsh (Palm Harbor, Fla.), and Trey and CJ Smith (Blue Ridge, Ga.); and great grandchildren Jacob Finehirsh, Alyssa Finehirsh and Elias Finehirsh.A celebration of Jack's life will be held from 12-2 p.m. on Saturday, July 3, 2010, at Moss Feaster Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Dunedin. A private viewing for family members will be held at 11:30 a.m. prior to the service.Arrangements under the direction of Moss Feaster Funeral Home, Dunedin, FL.
