Chris Jennings' Obituary
Chris Jennings, 56, passed away on June 11, 2025, in Palm Harbor, Florida, on his birthday. Born on June 11, 1969, in Portsmouth, Ohio, Chris lived a life defined by quiet strength, unwavering dedication, and deep love for his family and community.
Chris was the firstborn of Jack Jennings and Esther Parker and grew up in Sciotoville, Ohio alongside his younger brothers Scott and Richard. From an early age, Chris and his brothers were deeply involved in sports, forming bonds that would carry through a lifetime of teamwork both on and off the field.
In 1991, Chris made the move to Florida, where he began a remarkable 32-year career with Florida Electrical Service. A licensed journeyman electrician, Chris became a cornerstone of the company—not only bidding jobs but also mentoring countless apprentices. He was instrumental in guiding many through their training and licensure, always ready to teach and support those who needed a steady hand. His colleagues remember him not just as a skilled tradesman but as the “best teammate,” someone who never sought the spotlight but always stepped up when it mattered most.
Chris’s spirit was one of warmth, gentleness, and trust. Whether at work or at home, he brought people together—introducing newcomers to the group, making others feel seen and supported. He had a way of making everyone feel safe and valued. As one childhood friend recalled, “He didn’t mind doing the dirty work so others could shine… he didn’t say much, but he was the best protector someone could have.”
Although Chris did not become a father until later in life, family was always central to who he was. He played an important role in the life of his niece Jordynn before becoming a father himself. When he married Brittany Jennings and welcomed their daughter Alaina into the world, Chris found the family he had always dreamed of. His commitment to them was unshakable—whether working hard to provide for them or tackling home improvement projects with care and pride. He took joy in transforming their house into a dream home with his capable hands and tireless energy.
Chris is survived by his wife Brittany Jennings; his beloved daughter Alaina Jennings; his father Jack Jennings; stepmother Jane Jennings; mother Esther Parker; brother Scott Jennings and family; stepbrother Richard Pridemore and family; and many others whose lives were touched by his kindness. He was predeceased by his stepfather Bill Parker.
To those who knew him—his brothers, coworkers at FES, friends from childhood, and especially Brittany and Alaina—Chris was more than dependable; he was devoted. He worked hard not just for success but for connection: to do well at work, support his family, buy a round at the bar for friends. He was thoughtful beyond measure—the kind of man who quietly made life better for everyone around him.
A memorial service celebrating Chris’s life was held in Palm Harbor, Florida.
May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him and inspire others to live with the same humility, loyalty, and love that defined his days.
