With immense sorrow we announce the passing of Steven Hunt Shirvis, aged 61, of Largo, FL on July 23, 2024. A life-long Floridian, Steve was born in Jacksonville, FL and lived in Largo since 1966.
Steven is preceded in death by his father, Raymond A. Shirvis, I, his mother. Mary Hunt Shirvis, and his brother. Raymond “Sonny” Shirvis, II.
He is survived by his loving wife, Adline, and 2 sons (step) Richard and Thomas, his sister Barbara Shirvis, (Stephen), his brother Richard Shirvis, (Etsuko), his niece Leilani Shirvis, his nephews Benjamin Powell and Zachary Powell, his “son in spirit” Tyler Theirjung, his sister-in-law Barbara Marshall (Tim), brother-in-law Steve Brown, and sister-in-law Brenda Shirvis Chitty.
A professional painter by trade, Steve loved most of all being in his boat, enjoying the Florida sunshine and catching fish in his favorite spot near Clearwater Pass. Steve loved music, playing the bass regularly with friends throughout the area. Another passion of Steve’s was cooking for his family, especially the fish he caught.
Steve is remembered for his big voice and hearty laugh, his way with spinning a story, his tenderness toward young people and animals, and his devotion to his wife and the rest of his family. Steven was taken too soon from us, and we are the poorer for it.
The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to their favorite charity, or Steven’s favorite charity, Friends of Strays Animal Shelter (2911 47th Ave N, St Petersburg FL 33714) in Steven's name.
