Sue Carolyn Westmoreland Pascual's Obituary
Sue Carolyn Westmoreland Pascual, known as “Carolyn” to her beloved family and friends, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2024, at the age of 81. Her bright smile and gentle spirit helped all who knew her feel loved and appreciated.
Born and raised in Dyersburg, TN, Carolyn was the fifth of seven children born to C.B. and Mary Westmoreland. After her family moved to Indiana in the 1950s, Carolyn attended school in Hobart, IN. She graduated in 1961 from River Forest High School, where she won both the American Legion Scholarship Writing Contest and the Teachers Scholarship and was a member of the National Honor Society, Book Club, and Future Business Leaders. She and her family attended the Church of Jesus Christ, where she led the youth choir that performed at churches around the state.
Carolyn was a devoted stay-at-home mom to three daughters Angela, Sherry, and Elizabeth. Having moved the family to Florida in 1971, Carolyn became a working mom in 1983 after earning a Travel Agent diploma from Erwin Vocational-Technical College in Tampa. She then worked at Travel House in Tampa for 10 years, eventually taking ownership of the business. Carolyn loved working in the travel industry and enjoyed the perks of traveling the world, her favorite places being Italy, Israel, Australia, New Zealand, and British Colombia.
Carolyn had many talents and hobbies. She was an accomplished singer and songwriter, singing in church choirs, local music clubs, and nursing homes. She also loved to play tennis, winning several singles and doubles tournaments and trophies. Carolyn enjoyed sewing, painting and crafts, and the Red Hat Society.
Carolyn met and married Rusty Pascual in Medford, NY, where they lived for eight years. She was a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church in Medford, where she volunteered at food pantries and women’s ministries and sang at senior centers. In 2012, Carolyn and Rusty moved to Clearwater, FL, and found a new church home at Calvary Baptist Church, actively participating in several ministries and Bible study groups.
Carolyn leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and enduring faith. She is survived by her loving husband Rusty Pascual; her brother Larry [Stella]; her children Angela, Sherry [Daniel], Elizabeth [Bobby], and stepdaughter Royel; her grandchildren Naomi [Jeff], Heather, Jonathan [Melissa], Michael [Alana], Charlie, Johnny, Sara, and Sophia; and great-grandchildren Mason, Violet, Annabelle, Jacob, and Elijah; and sisters-in-law Maria and Julia. Carolyn is preceded in death by her loving parents C.B. and Mary Westmoreland, sister Rachel [Charles MeJean] and her brothers Bill [Sharon], Kenneth [Pat], Daniel [Gale], and Dennis [Elmerine].
Carolyn’s smile may be gone, but the warmth it brought will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held at Moss Feaster Funeral Home, 693 S Belcher Rd, Clearwater, FL 33764 on Thursday, July 25. Visitation will be 10–11am, with the memorial service beginning at 11am. Following the service, the family invites family and friends for a gathering at the home of Rusty and Carolyn. The service will be livestreamed here https://webcast.funeralvue.com/ (ID: 102960).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Ukraine Ministry [x150 Campaign] or World Missions Offerings made through the Clearwater Calvary Baptist Church [https://pushpay.com/g/calvarybaptist], two causes very close to Carolyn’s heart.
