McNair, Susan Marie's Obituary
Susan “Susie” Marie McNair
Susie McNair, age 64, of Palm Harbor FL, left the Earth following a brave battle against breast cancer on October 11, 2024.
She was born on Nov 16th, 1959 in Poughkeepsie, NY to Sidney and Dolores Schoner. The young family would move to Montgomery County, Maryland when she was five years old, where she would go on to become the second of four daughters. From an early age she demonstrated a talent and passion for music, and became a regular performer at coffeehouse nights. She studied at the University of Maryland at College Park before becoming a successful hairdresser.
Although Susie would go on to have many accomplishments, including becoming a lauded wedding hair stylist in the DC area, being named in Washingtonian Magazine multiple times, her greatest achievements were undoubtedly the connections she made with others and being a proud mother. From an early age Susie would be surrounded by friends, who were drawn in by both her fun-loving spirit and the depth of her ability to care for others. Susie never encountered a stranger and would go on to maintain lifelong friendships across her many adventures. However, to know Susie was to also know of the most meaningful and rewarding relationship she had with her beloved daughter Caroline.
Susie was predeceased by her loving parents Sidney and Dolores Schoner, her favorite aunt Pauline, and grandmother Sarah Forman. She is survived by her daughter Caroline Ruckstuhl, and sisters Sherrill Nicely, Julie Day and Joyce Baysinger. She was cherished by her nieces Christina, Amber, Jessi, Terri and Cassanda, as well as her great-nephews Caleb, Griffin, Trevor and Jayce. She was a dear niece to uncles Irstie Forman and Bertram Schoner, and cousin to Eric, Becky, Michelle, Beth, Mara, Joe, and Cindy. She will be missed by far too many friends to count.
Susie lived loudly and loved loudly. She will be remembered for her vitality, warmth and the light she brought into this world. Her memory will forever be a blessing to all who knew her.
