Terry Ward Duffy's Obituary
Terry Ward Duffy, was born on January 25, 1939, in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Elizabeth and Clyde Duffy, and was preceded in death by his sisters, Sandy and Wendy.
He is survived by his wife Anne, children Teresa Hibbard (Frank), Dody Matthews (George, dec.), Trent Duffy (Christine), Meghan Nelson (Chris), grandchildren Whitney, Spencer, Nathan, Lauren, Wesley, Griffin, Nicholas, Hunter, Wilson and Jack, and great grandchildren, Piper, Dawson, Judah, Eden and Zion.
An adoring husband, Terry shared over 66 wonderful years of marriage with his only life partner Anne that was guided by their strong devotion to the Almighty. He was an exceptional father, as well as “Grandpere” to his 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren who brought him endless joy (and healthy cheeks). He supported them in their youth with advanced algebra and planetary physics lessons at the kitchen table, and enjoyed throwing balls, attending concerts, wrestling, sledding and splashing with them in the pool. He continued to bless them throughout their lives with sage wisdom and understanding.
A gifted musician, he played in amateur bands, led his row in the world-famous Ohio State Marching Band (TBDBITL), and was a booming tenor in church choir, where he and Anne shared their love of music. He shared his love of music with family and friends. He enjoyed socializing and the art of conversation by respectfully yet boldly engaging others with differing viewpoints. He was Irish.
In addition, Terry was a master woodworker, electrical engineer, global business executive, landscape architect and home project dynamo. He cherished the simple pleasures in life, like back scratches, Sunday night omelets, good fires, and the occasional Rob Roy.
Terry’s legacy is one of love, creativity, and commitment to family, faith, and his many passions. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
