Theofanis (Finis) Coulis' Obituary
COULIS, THEOFANIS (Finis) born September 25, 1925, 90 of Munster, Indiana and Clearwater Beach, Florida. Loving husband of 59 years to Sevasti, father of Dr. Louis Coulis (Denise) of Plymouth, Wisconsin. Papou to their children Alexis, Thaddeus and Zacharias and Theo (Marlene) of Chicago, Illinois. Beloved son of the late Elias and Theodora Coulis. Dearest brother to the late Tula Zvarna (John -deceased) Tripoli, Greece, Jimmy (Katina) Venice, Florida, Georgia Katsaros (Pete) Griffith, Indiana and the late John (Dina), San Bernadino, California.
Finis immigrated from Zeli, Greece when he was 12 years old and lived with his Uncles Tom and John (Virginia) in Vincennes, Indiana. He served proudly in the Navy in World War ll and again in the Korean War. Upon his return, he graduated with a degree in Law from Indiana University. He practiced for over 30 years in Lake County, Indiana.
Finis was also a cherished uncle to 12 nieces and nephews as well as grand nieces and nephews who remember him for his quick wit, charm and storytelling. Finis will be missed by many, many friends. He cherished his longtime friendship with John Toyias. He was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, Hammond, Indiana.
Finis was very involved with the Order of Ahepa, serving as District Governor and Chapter President.
Funeral service will be held at Burns Kish Funeral Home – 8415 Calumet Avenue Munster, IN. Visitation will take place on Monday, May 23, 2016 from 4 to 8pm. In lieu of flowers, please make any contributions in his memory to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Hammond, Indiana.
