Thomas L. Day Sr's Obituary
We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our father, Thomas Lewis Day of Houston, TX, on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 after a long battle with cancer. He was born on December 23, 1938 to the late Paul Francis Day and Agnes Thompson Day in Jerseyville, Illinois. Tom was a Civil Engineer by profession who had a distinguished career as a Project Manager in the Petroleum Industry for over 40 years. He had an exciting career, traveling the world building oil platforms and pipelines. Tom was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed boating, waterskiing and motocross racing and continued racing motocross well into his 70’s. He will be missed by so many whose lives he touched.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 18 years Rumi (Funderburk) Day of Houston, TX; sisters Sue Ellen Rose and Ruth Ann Day; daughters Claire G’Sell Day and Rachel Lynn Davis; son Robert Paul Day; grandchildren Tracy Day, Zachary and Nathan Davis, Sashua Delprete Day, Great Grandchildren Thomas Ethan Delprete Day, Lysa Anne Delprete Day, Alexander Lee Delprete Day, and Taylor Renee Delprete Day ; sons Charles and Lee Funderburk; daughter Tina Funderburk; grandchildren Karson, Kaleb, Kohen, Ellie, Finn, and Gray Funderburk, Kayli Bartsch, and Hayden, Ryan L, He was preceded in death by parents Paul Francis Day and Agnes Thompson Day; brothers Richard (Vic) Day and Roger Day; son Thomas Day Jr., and wife Cynthia G’Sell Day.
Visitation to be held Monday, November 28th 9:00AM-10:00AM at Moss Feaster Funeral Home followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30AM, St. Cecelia’s Catholic Church and burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery on November 28, 2022. Family and friends are invited to come and celebrate his life.
