Thomas Kane's Obituary
Thomas Vincent Kane, age 85, recently of Safety Harbor, FL, and a long-time resident of South Jersey, died on January 18, 2024.
Tom was born in Mount Carmel, PA and raised in Philadelphia and Upper Darby, PA.
He was preceded in his death by his parents Harold T. Kane and Helen R. Kane (nee Marenick), and his beloved wife of 51 years, Elma “Sissy” Kane (nee Leary).
He is survived by his beloved wife of 5 years, Karon Clark Kane, his brother the Hon. Harold M. Kane, and his children Kathleen Kane Rodis and her husband Jon, Colleen Russo and her husband Samuel, and Thomas Kane and his wife Sheryl, as well as his step-children Christina Brown and Richard White. He will be missed by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Samuel Russo III and his partner Khalilah Wise and their children Gianna and Samuel, Megan Michelle Russo, Thomas Ryan Russo and his fiancée Hailey Smith, Daniel Patrick Russo, Kelly Eileen Kane and her partner Andrew Conegliano, Erin Colleen Guzman (nee Kane) and her husband William, and Nora Kathleen Kane, as well as his step-granddaughter Aaliyah Brown. He is also survived by his brother, William Kane, his nieces, nephews, and many Kane-family cousins.
Tom was a veteran of the United States Air Force and the Camden City Fire Department. He was later a businessman and proprietor of Kane Business Institute in Cherry Hill and Camden, NJ. A self-educated and widely-read man, Tom attended St. Petersburg College in Clearwater, FL in his 70s.
A service and burial will be held at Bay Pines National Veteran’s Cemetery in St. Petersburg, FL. on Thursday February 8, 2024, at 10am. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages friends to make donations in Tom’s memory to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (www.firehero.org).
