Thomas H. Martin's Obituary
Thomas H. Martin, 82, Tarpon Springs, passed away suddenly at 3:56 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017, from cardiac arrest in Tarpon Springs, Florida.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Velma Alexander and Luster Martin; his brother Alfred Martin (Janis), and sister Dorothy Chandler.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Charolette J. Martin of Tarpon Springs; loving sister June Martin Jackson; nieces and nephews; three children, daughter Pamela Mytych (Richard); son Thomas Martin (Cathy); daughter Debra Smith (Daniel); and 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Tom was born on Nov. 18, 1935, in Athens, Ohio. He moved to Michigan in his high school years where he met the love of his life, his high school sweetheart, Charolette. He loved his country and served in the Air Force National Guard and was an N.R.A member. Tom worked as a design engineer supervisor for Ford Motor Company, heavy truck. In his younger years he loved square dancing, and the Ford Wagon train camping club. During his time with the wagon train, he became the wagon master. Tom retired early at age 52 and traveled the United States for three years in a motor home with Charolette and their dog Kayto. Tom and Charolette spent their winters in Florida and summers in Michigan. He enjoyed woodworking, a true 'jack of all trades", he loved his pets; birds and cats, and he loved going to garage sales. John Wayne was his hero and he often referred to himself as an armchair cowboy. Tom loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly.
A private memorial service for immediate family will be held.
