Thomas Dillard Nash's Obituary
Thomas Dillard Nash passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 29, 2022. He was born in Philomath, Georgia on May 23, 1931, to Dr. Thomas Charles Nash and Frances Dillard Nash. Dillard graduated from Washington High School in Washington, Georgia in 1948, and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1952. He was a proud member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. After graduation, Dillard served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army and spent a year in Korea. Upon his return, Dillard's sister introduced him to her college roommate, Lou Ann Taylor. The two were married in 1956 and settled in Lou Ann's hometown of Clearwater, Florida where he owned and operated a motel and citrus groves, as well as a Georgia farm. Dillard was an active and respected member of the Clearwater community. He was a member of the Clearwater Rotary Club for almost 60 years and served as president in 1986. He was also a past president of the Florida Farm Bureau. Dillard was a member of First United Methodist Church Clearwater, and he and Lou Ann had many fond memories leading church youth groups. He loved returning to his family home place in Philomath with friends and three generations of his family. Nothing was more important to Dillard, or "Dewey" as he was known to his grandchildren, than his beloved family and he was always so proud of their accomplishments. He was a true southern gentleman and will be remembered for his kindness and gentle spirit. He is predeceased by his daughter, Lisa Nash Chapman and his sister, Mary Suzette Kopecky. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lou Ann Taylor Nash, his son Thomas Charles Nash II (Kelly) of Clearwater, grandsons Nash Chapman (Brandie) and Pitt Chapman (Alexis) of Perry, Georgia, granddaughter Taylor Nash Schrader (John) of Tallahassee, grandson Thomas Charles Nash III of Washington, DC, and two great grandsons, Henry and William Chapman. A visitation will be held at Moss Feaster from 5-7PM on Thursday, November 3rd. The funeral service will be held at Moss Feaster at 10:30AM on Friday, November 4th. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Rotary Club of Clearwater charities or Morton Plant Mease Foundation.
