Torrence C. Davies' Obituary
On Wednesday, September 25, 2024, Torrence Cline Davies affectionately known to us as “Bud”, gracefully slipped from our world surrounded in peace and love at the age of 79 years old. Born to make an impact, Bud wore many hats through his journey. His adult life began with a 4 year enlistment in US Air Force. Followed by another 20+ in the Air Force Reserve. Simultaneously, he served his family and community within the Chicago Police Department for 20+ years, until he and his family retired to Clearwater, FL. He shared his love of sports by coaching all levels of scholastic football both in Chicago and Florida. And in between football seasons he snuck in a little bit of girls soccer and Tee ball. His passion for community and his love of mentoring earned him respect wherever he went. When he wasn’t on the gridiron he was on the golf course, but wherever he was, he brought a quick wit, much love and great joy and laughter. His heart was as big as his sense of humor, and he loved nothing more than his dear family and friends.
Bud was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Marie Leona Davies, his father Torrence, his brothers, John and James (Bo) and his granddaughter Nicolette Sparks and passed peacefully in the arms of his beloved wife and favorite person, Bernice Davies, at Suncoast Hospice in Palm Harbor, Florida. While we will miss him dearly, his legacy of love, laughter and not taking things too seriously will continue on through his children; Debi, David (Terri), Bridget, Mallory (Pierre) LaBrie, his beloved furbaby Bailey Rose, and his surviving siblings Mickie (Jim) Wright, Pat (Dave) Zolotar, Tom and Bill as well as his wonderful 10 surviving grandchildren (Glenn, Chy, Thomas, Vincent, Hayden, Amelie, DJ, Costello, Mikie, and Tjaden) and his 4 beautiful great-grandchildren( Zayrah, Kimber, Giovanni, Paxtyn), as well as many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind a huge circle of friends and countless memories that will keep us smiling through the tears.
Cemetery placement will be at Bay Pines National Cemetery at 12:30PM, on Tuesday October 22, 2024. A memorial gathering will be held the following afternoon, from 4pm - 6pm, followed by a brief prayer service at 6pm, followed by catering. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriner’s Hospitals and/or the American Kidney Foundation.
