Veronica W. Groth's Obituary
Ronnie passed away peacefully at her home, with her daughter and caregiver, Christine, by her side.
Born in Ridgewood, NY, to William and Katie Bronner. Ronnie was the baby sister to Katherine (Mazzeo) and the nickname "Babe" stayed within the family through adulthood.
Ronnie's first marriage in 1954, blessed her with four children who she was very proud of: Rev. Robert Smith, Jr., William (Margaret) Smith, Marie (Smith) Savickas, and her selfless caregiver in her last years, her youngest, Christine Smith. The title of "Granny" was bestowed upon her with the birth of her grandchildren; William Savickas, Katie Smith (Jordan Liv), Zachariah (Stephanie) Smith, and Molly Smith.
Zach and Steph added to the blessings with the arrival of the Great-Grandchildren, Veda and James Smith.
Her Nephews and Nieces, Anthony Mazzeo, Veronica Geever, Katherine Neglia, and Joey Mazzeo knew her as "Gaga". It seems the name Veronica was not easy for two-year-old Anthony to pronounce, and the Moniker stayed with her for her entire life.
Special thanks to Anthony, not only for the nickname, but also for the unwavering support and love that he and his wife Kathy have so graciously provided to mom over the years.
Especially grateful to Son Will, and his wife Margaret, for their generosity for many years, ensuring mom’s creature comforts.
Ronnie and her second husband, Edward Groth, moved to Clearwater, FL in 1990. Ronnie enjoyed a long career as a CNA and touched many lives with her caring ways.
She became lifelong friends with several of her patients and their families.
Ronnie was a friend to everyone she met and would know your life story within minutes of meeting you.
Ronnie was a devout Catholic. She attended Mass, and tirelessly volunteered at St. Cecelia's Catholic Church in Clearwater, FL. She absolutely cherished the friendships that she forged there.
Her Son, father Robert Smith will be celebrating her Funeral Mass at St. Cecelia’s.
Mom will be missed by so many, and we take comfort in knowing that she is at rest in the presence of God, through his Son, Jesus Christ.
Last but not least, the great joy that her "Grand-Doggers", Suga-Baby, Paisley, Coco, and Rocky brought to her.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or Morton Plant Mease Health Care Foundation, and more than anything, Mom wants you all to know how much she loved and appreciated you.
Funeral Mass, Tuesday, October 4, 10:30AM at St. Cecelia Catholic Church and Celebration of Life will be Tuesday, October 4th , 6:30PM at Moss Feaster Funeral Home.
