Vincenza Cutrona's Obituary
Cutrona, Vincenza "Vee" 97, died Monday Oct. 13 in her sleep while surrounded by family at her son's home. Vee was born in Sicily and came to the United States when she was 3 years old with her parents. Later, in 1938, she returned to Sicily to marry her fiancee, Sal, to whom she was married for 74 years. The two returned to America on the last passenger ship to cross the Atlantic before WWII and settled in Deer Park, NY. Vee attended school for fashion design and worked as a seamstress, even designing her sister Rose's wedding gown. She and her husband retired to Florida in 1984. Vee is survived by her two sons Anthony and Sal Jr. as well as five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was a loving and kind woman who knew the value of hard work and yet was always willing to share what she had. Vee found joy in the small things, talking on the phone with her grandkids, chatting with neighbors at Imperial Cove, visiting and shopping with her sisters, and spending time with her husband. For these and many other reasons she will be greatly missed.
