Vivian C. Willingham's Obituary
Vivian Claudia Willingham passed away at age 96 on June 18, 2023. She was born in Tampa,
Florida in 1926 at Dr. Cooks Sanitorium to Earl Stanley Keirstead and Selma Rich Pillar. Her
birth name was Claudia Rich Keirstead, but she later changed her name to Vivian Claudia
Keirstead. In 1949, Vivian worked in Civil Service as a clerk for the US Navy in Key West, where
she met the love of her life, Oscar Willingham, a Navy Lieutenant Commander. They were
married in September 1950 and had three children, Kathy, Steven, and David. Her husband,
Oscar, passed away in October 1993. After Oscar's passing, she moved to Merritt Island where
she volunteered at the Patrick AFB hospital and always joyfully brought cookies to members of
the 301st Rescue Squadron.
Vivian was a devoted wife and mother with a passionate love for her family, her friends,
gardening and painting. She had a gardening green thumb and enjoyed spending time in her
garden, tending to all the flowers and vegetables. Her paintings are wonderful, many of which
grace the homes of her children and grandchildren. She cherished her friendships and enjoyed
traveling with her loved ones. Vivian's legacy of memories will live on through her children, 7
grandchildren, and 5 (and counting) great-grandchildren.
